Oil & Gas Wells

Oil and gas leases use a map to search for detailed attributes at particular locations via clearly defined symbols. Maps are used to portray the boundaries, platforms, rig wells, hydro coastal gas and locations of offshore fields in the Texas Gulf area. This tool allows oil and gas lease operators to effectively and efficiently manage development for the protection and production of resources.

Related documents and OnBase Workflow queues are automatically linked to features on geographical maps, providing single-click access to relevant content. This increases user efficiency, decreases document retrieval delays and ultimately supports timely and accurate decision making.

Map Application Users

Oil and gas lease operators work in the field to monitor equipment, wells and storage tanks, as well as write reports on extracted oil. These reports are sent to company headquarters on a daily basis, and require access to the manuals and standards of the machine. In the event of equipment failure or oil spills, these individuals are responsible for creating work orders; because this information establishes oil industry production levels, everything needs to be documented – requiring a large amount of paperwork.

Records analysts maintain paper file records containing original leases, contracts, documents, maps, bonus receipts, rental check receipts and related correspondence.

The OnBase Payoff

  • The location of pipelines, tanks, equipment and other components are tracked electronically along with related information.
  • A database that includes geospatial attributes is maintained, allowing each feature to be associated with a map, photo, video or other document type, which is imported and stored in OnBase.
  • Documents stored in OnBase can be retrieved or accessed from any place or across any department.
  • Execution and routines are accelerated by allowing users to quickly access accurate and complete historical records and documents
  • Work order generation is facilitated, eliminating delays before inspection and allowing organizations to meet inspection frequency requirements.
  • The need for increased staff is reduced by enabling fewer people to do more work and better leverage their expertise.
